It will transform these young people by teaching them the values, knowledge, technical know-how, and ability to lead to help them facilitate the socio-economic growth in Africa.

Included in their Scholars Program, Wellesley College will grant nine (9) women from Africa comprehensive support that involves scholarships, mentoring, counseling, and internship offers for undergraduate studies. Beneficiaries at Wellesley College will gain experiences, values, and competent skills that are important to success in the world economy and make it possible for them to give back to society. The scholarship award will be in batches of three students per year.

Stanford University USA, is partnering with the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program to provide comprehensive support to twenty (20) talented but financially challenged African students over the next eight years to obtain scholarships in the USA. The scholarship platform will benefit five (5) undergraduates from Sub-Saharan Africa yearly.

MasterCard Foundation Scholars Program at Arizona State University (ASU)

In 2012, Arizona State University received Ten (10) undergraduate students from seven African countries. This was the first batch of beneficiaries of the MasterCard Foundation Scholarship program at Arizona State University (ASU). As part of this program, ASU will be paid $27.5 million across the next seven years to provide academically talented, yet financially incapable African students, who are looking to help their communities and countries, with access to top-notch education. The platform will benefit 120 students at ASU.

MasterCard Foundation Scholarship Program at Michigan State University (MSU)

Michigan State University in the USA is collaborating with the Mastercard Foundation scholarship board to provide full-tuition scholarships to both undergraduate and graduate students from Sub-Saharan Africa. $45 million will be paid to Michigan State University as funding from the foundation to support 185 students across the nine-year program. This includes 100 four-year bachelor's degrees and 85 students for master's degrees.

Government Scholarships in the USA

Foreign Fulbright Student Program

The Fulbright Program is a scholarship intended for international students who wish to obtain a Master's or PhD degree. The scholarships is sometimes extended for non-degree postgraduate studies. The scholarship takes care of tuition fees, textbooks, airfare, a living stipend, and health insurance.

Educational Level: Master's and PhD degrees in various departments, excluding medical degree programs or clinical medical research.

The Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program is a non-degree program for skilled workers with goals of improving their skills in leadership by learning and understanding common challenges in the U.S. and their country of origin.

Level of Study: Fellowship for professionals

Timeline for Application: All nominations must have been submitted as at the 1st of October. The submission is done by Embassy and Commission to the Institute of International Education office in Washington, DC. The deadlines for applicants may vary by country.

The Margaret McNamara Memorial Fund (MMMF) makes available financial aid to women from developing countries to assist them in continuing their studies and improving their skills in leadership. In general, the vision of the fund is to improve the livelihood of women and children in developing countries. The financial benefit of the MMMF scholarship/grant is around $12,000 each.

To be qualified to apply, you must be a woman from a developing country enrolled at the time of application at an accredited university in the United States or Canada.
